Summit Strengthens Executive Team with Strategic Leadership Appointments

Summit, a leading superregional provider of workers’ compensation insurance services, has announced key leadership advancements aimed at supporting its continued growth and operational excellence. The company has appointed Darin Grimm as Senior Vice President of the Florida Region, Kellie Chaloupka as Senior Vice President of Claims and Medical Management, and Greg Talbot as Senior Vice President of Actuarial and Underwriting.

“Over the next several years, we intend to increase business in our current footprint and grow by entering new states,” said Summit President and CEO James Wood. “To do that, we must have an organizational structure that supports our brand and allows us to best serve the agents, policyholders, and injured employees we work with every day.”

Darin Grimm, Senior Vice President, Florida Region

In his new role, Grimm will lead the Florida Region’s claims, underwriting, loss prevention, and premium audit teams. Having joined Summit in 2003 as an underwriter, he has held progressively senior roles across sales, marketing, and claims. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Claims.

“Darin has a proven track record and a deep understanding of both Summit’s culture and the Florida market,” added Wood. “He’s the right person to lead this critical region moving forward.”

Grimm holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Professional Leadership from Southeastern University, an MBA from Saint Leo University, and a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business.

Kellie Chaloupka, Senior Vice President, Claims and Medical Management

Chaloupka will now oversee medical operations, customer care, and various claims functions. She joined Summit in 2005 as a field claims adjuster and has held multiple roles, most recently Vice President of Claims.

“Kellie has been instrumental in shaping our claims and medical strategies,” said Wood. “She is a true role model and a steward of our brand’s value.”

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Arkansas and professional designations including Associate in Claims (AIC) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). She also served on the board of the Arkansas Insurance Hall of Fame.

Greg Talbot, Senior Vice President, Actuarial and Underwriting

Talbot takes on expanded responsibilities including actuarial operations, underwriting, regulatory, and reinsurance functions. He will succeed Brad Ritter, who is set to retire in July.

“Greg has long been a pillar of analytical excellence at Summit,” noted Wood. “His leadership across multiple domains will further strengthen our organizational outcomes.”

Talbot joined Summit in 2010 as an actuary and most recently served as Vice President of Actuarial. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Florida and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
