DataCamp and FPT Japan Partner to Support Japan's Digital Transformation and Accelerate AI Talent Development
DataCamp, the leading online learning platform for data and AI skills, has announced a strategic partnership with FPT Japan Holdings, the Japanese subsidiary of global IT firm FPT. The collaboration is built to meet rising demand for AI and data professionals in Japan, pairing FPT's established advisory and delivery practice with DataCamp's learning platform — which today serves more than 20 million learners and over 6,000 organisations worldwide.
Under the agreement, FPT will deliver end-to-end AI workforce transformation services — spanning AI strategy, skills assessments, training programmes, workshops and implementation support — while both companies strengthen the experience for DataCamp's existing customers in Japan through Japanese-language support, localised learning content and hands-on customer assistance.
"We can help major Japanese enterprises transform their workforce end-to-end."
— Jonathan Cornelissen, Co-Founder & CEO, DataCampTackling Japan's AI Skills Shortage
The timing is deliberate. Japan is facing a well-documented shortage of AI and data professionals, and a 2025 OECD survey found that Japanese SMEs are significantly more likely than peers in other countries to point to a lack of skills as the main barrier to adopting AI tools. FPT views the DataCamp partnership as a key unlock for that challenge — bringing structured, enterprise-grade upskilling to organisations where AI has moved well beyond the IT department and into everyday business processes.
Beyond corporate training engagements, the two companies also plan to jointly host seminars, webinars, exhibitions and marketing initiatives aimed at raising AI literacy across the wider Japanese market.
"AI and data technology is no longer limited to IT departments or tech firms."
— Takahiro Onouchi, Vice President, FPT Japan HoldingsA Springboard for Wider Asia Expansion
While the partnership's primary focus is the Japanese market, both companies see room to grow. As the Japan collaboration matures, DataCamp and the wider FPT Group intend to explore extending the alliance into South Korea, ASEAN and the broader Asia region. FPT Japan, established in 2005 as the Japan arm of FPT Software, brings a full-stack services portfolio — including AI, cloud, ERP, big data analytics, RPA and blockchain — giving the partnership a strong regional delivery backbone as it scales.
