PageUp Achieves ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Certification for AI Management Systems
PageUp, a global leader in talent acquisition software, has been certified to ISO/IEC 42001:2023 — the world's first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). The certification followed an independent audit by Sustainable Certification Services and was completed with zero nonconformities.
With this milestone, PageUp has been certified as an AI Producer — a designation reserved for organizations that build AI systems rather than simply deploy them. The scope covers the responsible development, provision, and use of AI across PageUp's full product suite, including Clinch.
"Certification as an AI Producer means an independent auditor has examined how PageUp builds, not just how we deploy. Our customers are hiring under new rules in every market they operate in, and they need evidence rather than assurances."
— Aaron Hardy, SVP of Product, PageUpAugmentation, Not Automation
For the organizations that rely on PageUp for hiring — and the tens of millions of candidates who engage with its solutions each year — the certification assures that PageUp's AI is designed to keep humans in the loop. Its AI operates on a principle of augmentation, not automation, meaning recommendations remain advisory with human review baked into every workflow.
That same principle shaped Paige, PageUp's recently launched agentic talent acquisition assistant, which serves as a reasoning layer delivering citation-based answers while ensuring recruiters maintain oversight. The certification also builds on PageUp's existing independent assurance conducted by Warden AI, which includes monthly bias audits of its AI skills-matching functionality — with results consistently surpassing disparate-impact and consistency thresholds.
"We build AI that takes admin off hiring teams so they can do the strategic work of connecting people to opportunity, because creating connections that power growth is PageUp's core purpose."
— Aaron Hardy, SVP of Product, PageUpThe Governance System Behind the Certification
By establishing requirements for AI management systems, ISO/IEC 42001 offers a structured way to manage the risks and opportunities associated with AI — balancing innovation with governance. Behind PageUp's certification sits a dedicated governance structure: an executive AI Governance Committee that oversees every AI feature through its lifecycle, and eight AI guiding principles spanning fairness, transparency, privacy, accountability, and human-centered design.
The company also runs a mandatory AI impact assessment, completed ahead of development, with committee sign-off required before any high-risk capability ever reaches a customer. Together, these controls form the foundation that the ISO/IEC 42001 audit validated.
