Finch has introduced Finch Benefits in Early Access, a new API that lets insurance carriers, third-party administrators and benefits technology platforms pull employee enrollment data directly from HCM systems.

San Francisco-based Finch, which provides a unified API for payroll, HR and benefits, said the new product adds plans, enrollments and dependents to its employment API. It launches with support for ADP Workforce Now and Workday, and more providers will be added through the 2027 Open Enrollment season. The move extends Finch’s existing coverage of more than 250 payroll and HR systems into benefits administration.

Much of the benefits industry still relies on CSV uploads, EDI feeds and SFTP file transfers. Because these run in batches, carriers and administrators often make eligibility and claims decisions using data that is weeks old, while building separate integrations with each vendor can cost millions of dollars and take years. Finch Benefits is meant to replace these manual feeds with a single API connection authorized by the employer.

According to Finch, it is the first unified API that can both read benefits enrollment data and send deductions and contributions back to payroll. With one connection, a platform can see an employee’s coverage, confirm their dependents and adjust the paycheck deduction that funds their plan. Finch CEO Jeremy Zhang said carriers, TPAs and benefits platforms all want to onboard clients faster and act on data before it becomes outdated, adding that pairing enrollment with payroll coverage brings the industry closer to one trusted source of employment data.

Sherri Bycroft, Director of Benefit Technology Relationships at Prudential, said that since life and disability coverage are fairly standard, the ability to connect and exchange data smoothly for HR teams now matters more in winning business than rates or products. Finch Benefits is available now in Early Access for the 2027 Open Enrollment season, with General Availability targeted for Summer 2027. Finch has served more than 100,000 businesses.
