Swiss Firms Advance AI Governance in the Workplace
Enterprises in Switzerland are redefining their workplace strategies to balance responsible AI use with compliance and operational resilience, according to a new research report from Information Services Group (ISG), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm. The 2026 ISG Provider Lens Future of Work — Services report finds that Swiss organizations are moving beyond hybrid work modes toward more connected strategies that combine AI-enabled collaboration, digital operations and workplace design.
The shift reflects a broader move away from deploying workplace technologies as separate, standalone initiatives and toward managing work through a single integrated operating model. Rather than simply chasing new tools, many Swiss enterprises are placing AI governance at the center of how they plan, deploy and measure workplace transformation.
"Swiss enterprises are approaching workplace transformation with a clear focus on accountability. Success increasingly depends on turning AI into practical improvements that employees can use every day."
— Uwe Ladwig, Director, ISGGovernance Moves to the Center of Workplace Strategy
Rather than concentrating only on deploying new tools, enterprises are defining where AI should be used, how employee information should be protected and how workplace outcomes should be measured. These priorities are becoming increasingly important as organizations move from AI experimentation to responsible, well-governed adoption. The report notes that firms expect AI adoption to be guided by transparent policies that build confidence while supporting responsible workplace use.
Data protection is a defining constraint. Swiss enterprises increasingly favor Swiss-based delivery, clear data residency models and contractual transparency around how workplace data is processed. Companies operating internationally must satisfy both Switzerland's revised Federal Act on Data Protection and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation — driving demand for services that give greater certainty over where employee data is stored and processed.
"The future of work is no longer defined by access to AI tools but by how effectively organizations put those tools to work."
— Roman Pelzel, Principal Analyst and Lead Author, ISGTalent Shortages Fuel Managed Workplace Services
Persistent shortages of technology specialists in Switzerland have increased demand for managed workplace services, automation and proactive digital employee experience capabilities. Organizations are seeking solutions that support multilingual workforces and maintain local control without compromising governance. Many are adopting digital employee experience platforms with real-time observability, automated remediation and self-service capabilities to identify and resolve workplace issues before they affect employees.
The report evaluates 39 providers across four quadrants: Workplace Strategy and Enablement Services, Digital Workplace Operations and Support Services, AI-augmented Collaboration and Experience Services, and Smart and Sustainable Workplace Services. Bechtle, Infosys, Swisscom, TCS and Wipro are named Leaders in all four quadrants, with Infosys also recognized as the global ISG CX Star Performer for 2026 among future-of-work service providers. The study additionally points to growing investment in smart workplace technologies and the expanding role of workplace data in sustainability and real estate decisions.
Governance first. Swiss firms are making AI governance central to workplace strategy — defining where AI is used, how data is protected and how outcomes are measured — rather than just deploying tools.
Dual compliance burden. Companies must align with both Switzerland's revised Federal Act on Data Protection and the EU's GDPR, boosting demand for clear data residency and Swiss-based delivery.
Talent gaps drive outsourcing. Shortages of tech specialists are increasing demand for managed workplace services, automation and proactive digital employee experience platforms.
Integrated operating model. Enterprises are shifting from standalone workplace tech projects to a connected model blending AI collaboration, digital operations and workplace design.
Market leaders named. ISG evaluated 39 providers across four quadrants; Bechtle, Infosys, Swisscom, TCS and Wipro led all four, with Infosys taking the 2026 CX Star Performer honor.
