In the new role, he will lead enterprise-wide learning and capability-building programmes and talent development across HCLTech's global workforce. His focus will be workforce readiness, digital skills and continuous learning that keep pace with changing business and technology priorities.

He was previously Associate Vice President, Human Resources, for Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech. There he supported the people strategy and HR agenda for the engineering and research organisation.

Venkatachalam has more than two decades of HR experience across technology, banking and media. His expertise covers enterprise learning, talent development, HR business partnering, employee engagement and building organisational capability. Earlier roles include:

  • Vice President and HRBP Lead at Barclays

  • AVP HR at Cognizant India

  • Head of HR for the HRBP function in the southern region at Bennett, Coleman and Co. (Times Group)

  • Senior Manager, HR and Head of Talent Engagement at Wipro

  • About nine years in global HR and delivery-centre roles at TCS
