ControlUp, a leader in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) management, has introduced ControlUp Migrate for Windows 365 — a free tool designed to automate and streamline the migration of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop environments and other Azure virtual machines (VMs) into Windows 365 Cloud PCs. The tool eliminates the manual, error-prone steps typically involved in migration projects by offering a guided, automated workflow for IT teams.
Many organizations already rely on Azure-based VMs as part of their Azure Virtual Desktop deployments. Migrating these images to Windows 365 can be complex, requiring significant manual effort and often resulting in downtime or delays. Leveraging Microsoft’s Windows 365 migration API, ControlUp Migrate for Windows 365 solves these challenges with automated compatibility validation, intelligent VM selection, and seamless integration with the ControlUp platform.
“ControlUp Migrate for Windows 365 is available at no cost to any organization looking to migrate to Windows 365,” said Gadi Feldman, Vice President of Product at ControlUp. “Our approach is innovative because we perform comprehensive compatibility checks directly on VM disks before migration, reducing failures and guesswork. The workflow automates everything — from validation to integrating new Cloud PCs into ControlUp — turning a complicated task into a governed, predictable deployment.”
Scott Manchester, Vice President of Product for Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop, added, “Our partner ecosystem is essential to helping customers succeed with our cloud solutions. We’re pleased to collaborate with ControlUp as part of our Windows 365 migration API launch program and see them deliver a solution that simplifies migration and accelerates organizations’ journeys to Windows 365.”
Automated Migration Designed for Modern IT Needs
ControlUp Migrate for Windows 365 is built for IT teams modernizing their infrastructure with minimal disruption. The tool validates key prerequisites — such as Windows 10+ compatibility, agent conflicts, and OS disk configuration — before migration begins, significantly reducing failure rates and deployment timelines.
IT teams can migrate:
- Existing Azure Virtual Desktop instances
- Any Azure VMs
- Custom VM images
After migration, newly created Windows 365 Cloud PCs are automatically integrated into the organization’s ControlUp environment for unified monitoring, real-time analytics, and centralized management.
ControlUp Migrate for Windows 365 will be available for free to both ControlUp customers and non-customers. Attendees can experience a live demo of the tool at ControlUp’s booth during Microsoft Ignite on November 18–21, 2025.
