Equifax Highlights Cybersecurity Leadership in 2024 Security Annual Report
Equifax has released its 2024 Security Annual Report, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to transparency, collaboration, and innovation in cybersecurity. Now in its fifth year, the report offers an in-depth look into how Equifax continues to strengthen its defenses and transform its security operations—including the adoption of passwordless authentication across its global workforce.
“When I joined Equifax in 2018, I made a personal commitment to establish the company as an industry leader in security,” said Mark W. Begor, CEO of Equifax. “Since that time, we have transformed our organization at every level to deliver on that promise, and have built a culture where security is part of our global team’s DNA. As we look ahead, we are building on the strong foundation of the Equifax Cloud™ and our EFX.AI capabilities to drive innovation, new products, and future growth. Importantly, strong cybersecurity is core to each of our business actions.”
Highlights from the 2024 Security Annual Report:
- Blocked and defended against 15 million cybersecurity threats per day—175 hostile attempts per second—reflecting a 25% increase in threats from the previous year.
- Transitioned nearly 22,000 employees and contractors worldwide to passwordless authentication, eliminating the top risk: stolen credentials.
- Completed over 210,000 cybersecurity simulations with the global workforce, achieving a low 2.9% click rate in phishing tests.
- Achieved a mean-to-detect time of under one minute for potential intrusions.
Jamil Farshchi, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at Equifax, noted, “This past year, the industry witnessed a continued increase in AI-driven threats and geopolitical tensions, making the cybersecurity landscape more concerning than ever — and our team didn’t stand still. Instead, we modernized our defenses, accelerated Equifax Cloud adoption, and pushed the boundaries to future-proof the organization against AI impersonation tactics like voice cloning with the deployment of passwordless technology.”
For the fifth consecutive year, Equifax exceeded all major industry benchmarks in security maturity, maintaining a security posture score higher than both Technology and Financial Services industry averages.
The report also showcases how closer integration between security and technology has become a powerful driver of innovation, efficiency, and competitive differentiation. In 2024 alone, Equifax launched more than 100 new product innovations—all while upholding its commitment to best-in-class security practices.
As Equifax continues to grow, security remains a central strategic business priority, with efforts focused on evolving programs and defenses to keep pace with the rapidly changing cybersecurity threat landscape.
