iMerit Launches Scholars: Elite Global Network for GenAI Training

iMerit, a leader in software-delivered AI data, has announced the launch of its Scholars program, a global, invite-only network of subject matter experts. The program addresses the growing demand for secure, high-quality model tuning for Generative AI (GenAI) foundation models and applied AI applications.

Expertise as Infrastructure

While much of the Generative AI focus is on compute and algorithms, iMerit emphasizes expert-led data as a critical third pillar. iMerit Scholars comprises thousands of cognitive specialists with advanced degrees in fields such as computer science, medicine, biology, finance, law, and policy, often with multilingual or multi-domain expertise.

The program comes at a crucial moment as enterprises and research labs aim to differentiate AI systems through human oversight and domain-specific knowledge. Fine-tuning these models relies on expert prompting, reasoning inputs, and high-quality data generated by specialists.

Radha Basu, CEO of iMerit, stated: “Foundation models need to be tuned and validated by extremely clean expert-led data. Our Scholars team includes PhDs, MDs, lawyers, linguists, and engineers. Their exceptional problem-setting skills directly shape the quality and performance of the models.”

Powered by Deep Reasoning Lab (DRL)

Scholars is supported by Deep Reasoning Lab (DRL), a module in iMerit’s AI data software, Ango Hub. Ango DRL combines automated pipelines, model evaluators, and specialized human judgment at scale. It supports multi-domain, multimodal prompting, chain-of-thought reasoning, and other interaction modes that allow experts to teach, question, and refine models under development.

Robert Laing, VP of Global Specialist Workforce at iMerit, added: “Scholars curates the most elite AI teachers. It’s not just about degrees but about motivation, engagement, and a cognitive toolbox of skills like meta-cognition, critical thinking, creativity, and cultural empathy. That’s essential for mission-critical AI results.”

Notable Projects

  • Ambient scribe tuning: Physicians help models create more accurate clinical notes from doctor-patient audio recordings.
  • Chain-of-thought projects: Mathematicians coach models to solve complex problems iteratively.
  • Language-vision models: Experts improve autonomous vehicle safety by generating descriptive speech outputs.

Language Specialist Burak Ekseli from Turkey shared: “Communication was seamless, everyone was approachable and supportive, and we handled challenges with ease. It’s been one of the most positive and enriching experiences I’ve had, strengthening both my skills and confidence.”
