Ivanti, a leading enterprise software company offering a comprehensive IT and security cloud-based platform, has released its latest findings in the 2025 Technology at Work Report: Reshaping Flexible Work. The report surveyed over 6,000 office workers and 1,200 IT and cybersecurity professionals to explore the evolving challenges and opportunities shaping the modern workforce.

Amidst economic uncertainty, return-to-office mandates, and shrinking avenues for career growth, the report highlights a growing trend: employees turning to AI tools to enhance productivity, often without informing their employers. Despite these gains, 30% of GenAI users fear job loss, while 27% suffer from AI-fueled imposter syndrome, worrying that others may question their competence.

“Ivanti’s research shows that employees continue to want greater autonomy over their work lives and AI solutions that help them do their best work,” said Brooke Johnson, Chief Legal Counsel and SVP of HR and Security at Ivanti. “Organizations must approach AI implementation with empathy, build sustainable governance models, and address imposter syndrome if they hope to retain talent and boost productivity.”

Key Insights from the Report:

  • Secret AI Productivity Gains: 32% of employees who use GenAI tools keep it secret. Some enjoy having a “secret advantage” (36%), while others fear job cuts (30%) or feel insecure about their capabilities (27%). This covert usage, however, introduces significant cybersecurity concerns for organizations.
  • After-Hours Remote Work Continues: Despite growing return-to-office policies, 85% of employees still log in remotely after hours to check emails or complete tasks. This trend highlights the need for secure and flexible IT infrastructure to support hybrid work behaviors.
  • Younger Employees Prioritize Flexibility: Over half of Gen Z (54%) and millennials (53%) would consider leaving their job for more flexibility. Nearly 48% of all office workers perceive inflexible scheduling as a sign their employer doesn’t value them.
  • AI vs. Tech Complexity: As companies invest trillions in new technologies, nearly 46% of IT professionals report increased ticket volumes following new software rollouts. Without addressing tech stack complexity and data silos, AI benefits remain largely unrealized.

Flexible work continues to be viewed as highly valuable by 83% of IT professionals, yet only 25% say their current role offers true flexibility. Moreover, 64% report pressure from employers to return to the office, raising retention concerns in a competitive talent market.

As the workplace continues to evolve, it is essential for companies to balance innovation with empathy, fostering environments where AI and flexible work models can drive both employee satisfaction and organizational success.
