Socure Launches Workforce Verification Solution

Socure, the leading platform for digital identity verification, compliance, and fraud prevention operating in over 190 countries, has announced the launch of its Workforce Verification solution to counter the surge of employee fraud fueled by AI-generated resumes, deepfakes, and synthetic identities. This solution adapts Socure’s enterprise-grade fraud prevention to hiring workflows, detecting manipulated or fabricated identities before they enter organizations.

“Identity fraud is no longer confined to the consumer realm—it’s infiltrating the workforce at an accelerating rate,” said Johnny Ayers, CEO & Founder of Socure. “Fraudsters are posing as job applicants with AI-generated resumes and deepfaked credentials that evade outdated methods. With Workforce Verification, we’re advancing our mission to verify 100% of good identities in real time and eliminate identity fraud, which is now critical for enterprise cybersecurity.”

Rising Threat of Fake Applicants

According to Gartner, by 2028, one in four job applications will be fake. Fraudsters are not only wasting HR teams’ time but also gaining access to sensitive systems, siphoning salaries, and leaking intellectual property. Employers also risk violating international sanctions if payments unknowingly go to restricted individuals, creating financial, cyber, and reputational risks.

How Workforce Verification Works

Socure’s solution integrates seamlessly into HR platforms, job boards, payroll systems, and applicant tracking systems (ATS). At the application stage, it evaluates identity risk signals such as phone, email, device, geolocation, behavior, and education. This blocks over 70% of fraudulent applicants before reaching recruiters.

If risk is detected, candidates are routed via RiskOS™ workflows to step-up document and biometric verification through DocV or manual review. Persistent identity tracking through SocureID ensures continuous risk monitoring from application to onboarding. Optional AI agents extend capabilities to resume reviews, background screening, and more.

Real-World Fraud Examples

Rivka Gewirtz Little, Chief Growth Officer at Socure, shared: “One polished applicant with a strong LinkedIn profile turned out to be a fake candidate tied to a North Korean fraud scam. It’s easy to see how employers can fall victim when applicants appear qualified and personable.”

North Korean scams have been extensively targeting the tech sector, using salaries to fund weapons programs. The U.S. Justice Department recently announced actions including indictments, arrests, and seizure of fraudulent websites and accounts tied to these schemes. The FBI is also investigating such scams to protect organizations from infiltration.
