Capital One has appointed Pooja Ranjan as Head of Human Resources for its India operations, strengthening its leadership team as the financial services company continues to expand its technology and innovation capabilities in the country.

In her new role, Ranjan will oversee leadership planning, talent strategy, strategic workforce planning and organisational transformation for Capital One India. Her responsibilities will also include strengthening leadership capabilities, workplace culture and employee experience as the organisation grows.

Ranjan brings more than 25 years of global HR experience, with expertise in HR transformation, operating model redesign, change management and digital workplace innovation. Before joining Capital One, she served as Vice President of Business Transformation & Human Resources at AntWorks. Earlier, she spent more than two decades at IBM India, where she led change management and HR reinvention initiatives.

Her appointment comes as Capital One continues to position its India operations as an important technology and innovation hub. The India centre, established in 2004, works across data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, software engineering and analytics, supporting Capital One's global financial services operations.

Ranjan said she is looking forward to building a workplace where data scientists, software engineers and technology leaders can work on complex challenges in financial services. Her background in workforce transformation is expected to support Capital One's focus on developing talent and organisational capabilities alongside its technology investments.

The appointment also comes at a time when Capital One is continuing to expand its HR organisation in Bengaluru, with recent openings in areas including HR operations, HR risk and HR business partnering.
