Uplynk and Hearst Television Expand Partnership to Enhance Digital News Distribution

Uplynk has announced an expanded partnership with Hearst Television, leveraging its cloud-based streaming platform to enhance content distribution and optimize ad pod conditioning across digital syndication partners. This collaboration aims to accelerate Hearst Television’s news syndication workflows and maximize monetization opportunities.

Powering Greater Content Distribution

Hearst Television, serving 28 U.S. markets, is utilizing Uplynk’s platform to create continuous news-loop channels, augmenting its Very Local streaming service. The expansion ensures local news, weather, and information reach wider audiences across multiple platforms, including mobile, desktop, and connected TV.

“Our mission at Very Local is to bring Hearst Television’s award-winning local newscasts to audiences across streaming platforms,” said Andrew Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President of Streaming Video Services at Hearst Television and General Manager of its Very Local unit. “Through our collaboration with Uplynk, we can efficiently do that on third-party platforms, helping to meet consumers wherever they’re looking for local news and information.”

Maximizing Monetization & Audience Engagement

With Uplynk’s real-time syndication tools, Hearst Television can optimize streams for dynamic ad insertion, fully automate news channels, and distribute time-shifted newscasts across major platforms like Tubi and Amazon’s Fire News app. These features unlock new revenue streams by enabling advertiser-friendly content distribution across multiple digital environments.

“Hearst Television is setting a new benchmark for how media organizations can scale video distribution while unlocking greater monetization opportunities,” said Eric Black, CEO/CTO of Uplynk. “They are among a select number of local broadcasters investing in in-house designed apps across all major OTT, CTV, and mobile device platforms for their direct-to-consumer streaming brand Very Local. We’re proud to support their strategy with our Uplynk platform, which streamlines operations, increases engagement, and enhances their syndication capabilities.”

Expanding Multi-Platform Distribution

As audience behaviors shift, Hearst Television continues to meet viewers on their preferred platforms. Uplynk’s multi-platform syndication capabilities enable seamless content distribution across social media, OTT/CTV apps, and third-party syndication partners. This ensures continued growth in streaming viewership while reinforcing Hearst Television’s leadership in digital news delivery.
